FitMate - Workout Log ("FitMate" or "the App") is developed by Recep Kizilirmak. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
Data Storage
All your workout data, exercise history, splits, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. FitMate has no account system and no server: your data is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
If you use your device's iCloud Backup, Apple may include the App's data in that backup according to Apple's own privacy policy.
Apple Health
On iOS 26 and later, FitMate can use Apple Health (HealthKit). Access is optional and only requested with your permission. You can change or revoke it at any time in the Health app or under Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
- Workout session: While a workout is in progress, FitMate runs a Health workout session so that the rest timer and its Live Activity keep working while your phone is locked.
- What is saved: When you finish a workout, FitMate saves it to Apple Health as a "Traditional Strength Training" workout with its start time, end time, and duration. If available, Apple Health may add an estimate of active energy burned.
- What is not saved: Details such as exercises, sets, reps, and weights are not saved to Apple Health.
- Your choice: You can turn off "Save to Apple Health" in the App's Settings. Discarded workouts are never saved.
- No reading: FitMate does not read any data from Apple Health.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
- We do not read, collect, or receive any health or fitness data from Apple Health or any third-party service
- We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs
- We do not share any data with third parties
Notifications and Live Activities
If you allow notifications, FitMate schedules local notifications on your device to tell you when a rest period or timed set ends. FitMate also shows your current timer as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Both are created entirely on your device; no push server is involved.
Subscriptions
FitMate offers optional in-app subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store. Payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information.
Device Identifier
The App generates a random identifier stored locally on your device to distinguish user-created exercises from built-in ones. This identifier is never transmitted off your device.
Widgets
FitMate uses an App Group (shared UserDefaults) to pass workout data between the main app and its home screen widgets. This data stays on your device.
Export, Import, and Backups
You can export your workout data as CSV files or create a full backup file. These files are generated locally and shared only through the iOS share sheet at your discretion. Imported files and restored backups are processed locally.
Fonts
The fonts used by the App are included in the App itself. The App does not load fonts or any other content from external servers. This website also hosts its font itself and does not load content from third-party services.
Your Rights
Because all data stays on your device and we do not receive any of it, we cannot access, correct, or delete your data on your behalf. You stay in full control: you can edit or delete your data in the App at any time, and deleting the App removes all of its data from your device. Workouts saved to Apple Health can be managed and deleted in the Health app.
If you live in the European Union, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
